my 2 computers running win98se will not lan. they used to, and they work fine running win2k or xp. i cant view in network neighbourhood, ping or anything. ive tried specifying ip's, letting them obtain, a bit of mix and match, but nothing.

weird how they used to work before and not now.

anyone know wat the problem is?

Arran

Do you have file sharing enabled and are they on
the same domain?

You must specify the IP address, usually 192.168.1.xx where xx is any 2 numerals, must be different for each system of course. Also the subnet mask should be set to 255.255.255.0 for both. They must be on the same workgroup if it is a peer to peer LAN and each be given a unique name, file sharing must be enabled and at least one folder shared on each system. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

Try running 'winipcfg' and see what you are getting for adapter info on each machine.

If they used to be able to do this what, if anything, has changed? Added any new hardware or software?
