Hi

I installed first CD of AIX 4.3.3 on 6E1 (which has already been installed with AIX 5.2 but for standby db we need to have AIX 4.3.3 on both machines) and there was no probs with interacting with the monitor until after the first AIX CD was installed, the screen requested for the type of monitor (ibm3151) so I entered the code. The screen went funny and locked itself off. I had to reboot the box and the same thing happened.

Have any of you experienced this kind of probs, it can't be a faulty monitor as it worked previously when AIX 5.2 was already installed on the machine.

Any idea why?

Thanking you all in advance.

What kind of CDROM drive does it have??

I've had issues with the 6E1 because it's normally delivered with an IDE drive and you need a special install CD for that.

Hi Morsing

Many thanks for your immediate response, it is nice to know someone out there has experienced this probs I am at my wit ends here.

So what should I do? Contact IBM and request for what kind of install CD (I do not understand what you mean by special install CD)?

Thanking you in advance.

Regards

K

I mean a CD that has drivers for IDE CDROM drives. I am not 100% that this is what you're experiencing so ask someone from IBM if your 6E1 can be installed with 4.3.
