Weird Issue with 100DCD

I am installing a PRI on the Magix R4.0 V 7.0 we are using the 100DCD card.
The issue is when I connect the T1 to the RJ45 port on 12, 45 then go check the status on the console I see its in a maintenance busy state. I go to restore the card and it will either say restore failed board mismatch or it will restore and go right back into busy status.

I have tried a board reset, system restart, board renumber but still this card acts like this.

Also I do not need a CSU for this PRI so I should be able to use the RJ45 port right on the card right? If so should the CSU be turned off?

Any ideas?

You imply that prior to connecting the PRI service that the board is NOT in a maintenance-busy state. Is that a fair assumption, or do you need to clarify?

Is "RJ45 port on 12, 45 then go check..." a typo? Or were you trying to say something else important about this connection?

From a technical standpoint, you do not need a CSU. However, the FCC requires it. And even if you like to stick your thumb at authority, it makes sense to have one for troubleshooting purposes.

Understand too that the board state and the state of the circuit are related, but independent. If the board is in-service and the PRI shows all channels busy, you should'nt necessarily jump to the conclusion that the board is bad. Heck, the carrier could just be sending you all 1's because one of the circuit repeaters has a loopback on it.

More on hardware/software with PRI: You also need to describe your programming changes. Vanilla T1 programming won't work with a PRI circuit. And if this is a true PRI circuit, an ordinary metallic loopback plug could lead you to the wrong conclusions when troubleshooting.

Please write back with a little more detail.

Yes the 12 is a typo. As for the CSU issue this is an inhouse DS1 that connects to our own 5ESS so its not required. The weird thing is when I go to restore it it says board mismatch. If i reset the board then restore it, its fine.

I just need to know if the RJ45 on this 100DCD works the same as the RJ45 on the 100D and if I am using the RJ45 connection should I turn off the CSU.

I am not the expert on this im a 5ESS switch engineer given this challange!

You're a 5ESS tech? Dang! Can we trade jobs?

Yes, the modular interface on the 100DCD and 100D are the same. If there's any question, it's only a matter of a minute to roll 1,2 with 4,5.

That bugs me quite a bit about that board state. That happened to me once with an analog DID card and one other time with a 100INA board. In both cases I ultimately had to replace the board.

You've done a board renumber, and that's good. You've reset the system, which will usually renumber the system whenever a new card shows up, and that's good too.

Simply performing a reset on the slot will put the board in a maintenance-busy state. You'll have to perform a restore to bring it operational again. I prefer to do a busy, then restore. It seems to complain less.

I have two thoughts at the moment (OK, three...but I can't discuss the third here). You can busy out the slot and then perform some of the internal tests for the board. Make sure your maintenence alarm log is cleared first, then go back and check it after. Depending on which test you run, you'll get a pass/fail right on the test screen, or you have to run to the logs to see what's happened.

My second thought is something a little more obvious, which has to do with limitations of the MAGIX itself: How many T1 type cards do you have in the system, and how many are in the specific carrier that this troubled one resides in?
