I have a customer who is having a weird problem

when the corprate office tries to fax one particular branch it will only accept one page of a multipage fax then gives them a poor line condtion error

he can fax other branch just fine and other branchs can fax the problem branch with multiple pages the problem is only between corprate and this one branch.

they are using POTS lines from the telco in both locations

I was one site friday at the branch office along with the telco and neither of us could find any line problems

Im at a loss on how to proced here.

Is it long distance between the two locations? Could be an LD carrier problem.

yes it is long distance betwwen all locations

but its all intra-state and in this case the long distance carrier is the telco and its the same telco in both locations although the area codes are diffrent

maybe I'll try it with a calling card and see if that makes a diffrence.

intra-state doesn't necesarily mean it is not being handed off to another telco. The only way it stays with the same telco is if it is 'intra-lata', and you have your intra-lata toll with the telco. Even if you're using the the LEC as your long distance carrier, it is still handed off to a separate 'long distance' division of the company. With all the IP being done in long-haul, there could still be a fax codec handshake problem.

You could always test with a dialaround (101-xxxx) to force it to an alternate carrier to try.

I had a similar fax problem a few years ago: "A" could send and receive from the whole world, except from "B." "B" could do the same, except from "A."

Local or int'l calls...didn't matter.

Lines all tested OK. Lines were on SLC facilities. No matter.

I changed the outside cable pair at "A", problem went away. Who knows?

it gets evan stranger

A can't fax to B (the problem exists from two seprate fax machines on two seprate lines at ofice A}

A can fax to C, D,E,and f

C,D,E,and F can fax to b ..no problem

there is a office G that the fax number is forwarded to B.. A can fax to G and it is call forwarded to B and comes through just fine.

so that is the temp workaround untill we get it figured out

we did try the 10 10 long distance workaround with no diffrence
