weird error at login prompt

Hi all,

When I try to telnet into my Sun Netra T1, I get the following error:

ld.so.1: login: fatal: /dev/zero: open failed: Too many open files

I checked the Sun docs, and they say that I need to increase the number of file descriptors, so I enter single user mode, do the ulimit -n 256, then return to multi-user mode, but I still get the same error!

Does anyone know what's going on here?

What a co-incidence!
Even I faced this error yesterday and i am refering to sun documentation. If anybody has the solution, pls help out!!
