Weird. During HP Printing, Suddenly Says 'Disconnected'

I have had to reinstall my HP Officejet T45 4-in-1 printer. This resulted from a reinstall of Windows XP Pro (not a full install or reformat). Since the HP software installation was corrupted, I couldn't do a formal uninstall, so I had to delete folders and refer to various sites to get the program to reinstall. Well, I THINK it's pretty good, BUT, when I go to print, it prints beautifully, but halfway through I get the X over the printer icon in the system tray saying the printer is DISCONNECTED (but it ISN'T!) and then the prompt comes onto the screen that it has failed the printer test. The page does print out. But then, when I go to print another page, it has to go through the configuration screen all over again. The little icon showing it is printing works fine, and halfway through the printing, the DO NOT ENTER INTERNATIONAL SIGN crosses over it. The printing does finish. And the cycle repeats. Something is causing it to do this, followed by the prompt that the communication test has failed.

Can someone please help me!!
