I have a computer that is running IE 6 with windows XP Pro. It has a few weird problems with internet explorer, the first one being with the windowsupdate site. If you click on the review and install updates button after scanning for updates instead of bringing up the review and install screen in the frame, it brings up the homepage for windowsupdate again...So it is windowsupdate within windowsupdate. Very odd. It also sometimes just displays "funny symbols" across the screen instead of showing the website. User has to refresh a few times to get rid of it. Does anybody have any ideas? I'd rather not re-image the machine, so if anyone has any ideas that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

doing the obvious checks, like running an updated anti-virus and downloading and installing a couple programs like "spybot" and "ad-aware" (even though i wouldn't think that would be the case) you can try running the IE repair tool by going to control panel>add/remove progs then act like you're uninstalling it. windows will give you an option to "repair". also go to internet options>advanced tab and click "restore defaults". let us know if it helps. good luck!!
