Hi. When I ran one of my Java applets on a different computer from the one I had made it on, about half of my spaces (that were displayed on the screen) appeared as that weird box character that tells you when a letter doesn't exist in a certain font (do you know what I'm taking about?). Do you have any idea why this would happen - and even more strangely - with only some of my spaces? Weird. ***
Dammit Jim, I'm a programmer, not a doctor.

Maybe they were tab characters? Certainly they were unprintable characters on both machines, but with one machine they were replaced with spaces and on the other with boxes.

What you are describing is probably the newline character. In Windows, the end of the line is a \r\n and if you only add a '\n' it will usually display as a small, unfilled rectangle.
