Weird behavior in ie 7 going to certain sites

1 of our employees has problems when he tries to go to

http://www.fedex.com

for example. if

http://www.fedex.com

is entered it reroutes to our internal sharepoint site for some reason(via dynamic DNS, so it is not going to the internal IP address. I am testing on his computer now and can mimic the behavior by putting in

http://www.fedex.com

in the address bar.. if i put in fedex.com it goes to correct site, or if I put in

http://www.fedex.com

it goes to correct site. havent found it happening with any other site.. I checked usual suspects like Hosts file and the restricted sites etc in ie options but can't figure out why it is doing this, seems like if it was a rerouting somewhere it would do it with

http://www.fedex.com

as well. only other possible cause is that the sharepoint site is also the homepage but still doesn't make much sense..
any ideas?

Both seem to work ok. I think I found the problm, IE is trying to be too smart again to a fault..

the employee had fed ex as a favorite labeled as

http://www.fedex.com,

which this should not cause a problem but i caught it 1 time.. it was autocompleting

http://www.fedex.com

to be the path to the favorite(I.E c:\Documents and settings\...\

http://www.fedex.com.url

while you would think this would just pull up the favorite referenced apparently it ends up getting confused for some reason and pulling up the page set as the homepage instead.. I changed the favorites name to Federal Express and now

http://www.fedex.com

works as it should..
