WebSphere Variables

Hi,

Is there a way of retrieving the WebSphere Variables in a java programm.
For example the APP_INSTALL_ROOT etc.
I have no idea where to start searching. So far i checked out the IBM WebSphere Application Server API Specification but could not find a class that does that.

I'm sure there is a way as the Websphere admin console gets the values.
I suppose I could find the xml file where the values are keept but I was looking for a "cleverer" solution.
