We are running multiple Appservers on the one AS400, Problem is that each time a large report it generated each Appserver is taking up 40% or so of the cpu, a few of these at a time and down goes the AS400. Any tips on how to limit the apps servers to a certain cpu percentage or how to keep them under control would be great......

thanks heaps

Hi,

What is the Max JVM size have you specified for the Application Server? You say that there are multiple AppServers is this a Cloned environment?

Set the JVM to -ms256m -mx256m and turn on -verbosegc. Then you can use a tool called GCStats to graphically represents what is going on.

Also get you hands on the "IBM WebSphere Application Server Standard / Advanced Edition Tuning Guide" which I think comes as part of the Infocenter. It details different approaches to Performance Tuning.

Regards,

Fearo
