Hi,

I am trying to install websphere app server 4.0 on win2k. I keep seeing this msg , after staying at 99% of the install process , it
aborts with message Application popup: WebSphere Application Server 4.0: _INS5576._MP - Application Error : The instruction at "0x01ee45b2" referenced memory at "0x0000000c". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program . I beleive this is an Installshield error. Could some one tell me how to fix this problem please.Any suggestions/ tips appreciated

Thanks

SG

Hi,

Looks like you!!! I cut this up from another product installation.

This error can occur during the launching of the installation shield. The error may be displayed after the Installation Shield appears in the bottom right corner of the screen and has reached 99%.

Performing the following steps will correct this problem.

Check Auto insert Notification, Reserved Drive Letters assignment and DMA
settings of the DVD-ROM drive

1.Click Start select Settings and Control Panel
2.Double click on the System icon
3.Select the Device Manager tab
4.Click the + (plus sign) next to CD-ROM to expand the branch
5.Click on the DVD drive listed in this branch
6.Click the Properties button
7.Select the Settings tab
8.Set reserved drive letters - both boxes should read the same - as the current drive letter assignment
9.Remove the tick from the Auto Insert Notification box
10.If there is a tick in DMA (Direct Memory Access) - remove it, if there is not place a tick there
11.Click OK
12.Close all open windows
13.Restart Windows

STEP 2.
Set Optimize access pattern setting of the DVD-ROM drive
1.Click on Start select Settings and Control Panel
2.Double click on the System icon
3.Click the Performence tab
4.Click the File System button
5.Click the CD-ROM tab
6.Open the Optimize access pattern for drop down menu and select
No Read Ahead
7.Press the Apply button
8.Close all open windows
9.Restart Windows

STEP 3.
Clear the contents of the c:\WebSphere\AppServer directory to eliminate any file conflicts
1.Open the Recycle Bin and from its File Menu select Empty Recycle Bin,
confirm deletion by clicking Yes
2.Double click on My Computer icon to open it
3.Double click on C:\
4.Double click on the Windows folder
5.Double click on the Temp folder
6.Open the Edit Menu and select the Select All option
7.Open the File Menu and select the Delete option
8.Click Yes to any on-screen messages to confirm deletion
9.Return to the desktop

STEP 4.
Disable all Anti-Virus software
1.End all background programs, except for Explorer and Systray, individually
from within the Close Program window by:
Pressing Ctrl ; Alt ; Del in this order, holding down all keys simultaneously, then releasing all keys after pressing Del.
2.Once in the Close Program window click on the name of the program so that it is highlighted and click the End Task button.
(If, in response another window displays stating that the program is busy or waiting for input, click the End Task in that window as well)
3.Repeat the 2 steps above for all programs until only Explorer and Systray (Systray may not be running on your system) remain, click Cancel to finish.

STEP 5.
Re-install WebSphere

Fearo

Hi,
thanks for your post, but I was doing the installation from a dloaded version from ibm website. Seems like i had to keep upwards of 1GB space free in the C:\ drive (originally i had around 700mb) though i was installing to D:\ - .But I did manage to install it, once I cleared space... still- weird but worked for me.
