Hi,
We have two applications URL/app1 and URL/app2 on a Websphere 3.5.6 and IBM HTTP Server 1.3.12 on Solaris 8 on a 2- machine enviroment. I have recently installed and configured the same on Solaris 8 virtual zones on a Solaris 10 box. Just to explain a little more, we have two virtual instances of Solaris 8 OS for HTTP (Apache) Server and WAS 3.5.6 respectively on a Solaris 10 box.
The issue is the Apache Server serves well, but the Websphere plug-in on the Apache box is not forwarding the requests from Apache to the Websphere box for ie.. it is not displaying the home page of the URL/app1 or the URL/app2 applications . the Web Server instead of forwarding the request via the plug-in, is trying to search for /app1 in the Web server environment. In Websphere 3.5.6, the mode of request communication is OSE remote. I have even tried configuring the same on a single Solaris 8, but it is the same error .... It gives a 404 page not found and says /app1 not found on the server. All the above works perfectly alright in our production and test environments where we have the installations directly on Solaris 8 OS.
From tha above, i understand the Apache server is not forwarding the requests to the WAS Server and i feel this maybe due to Solaris 8 zones on Solaris 10 not being able to support OSE or communicate via OSE transport mechanism.
It would be very helpful if someone can comment here for any other possible solution or thoughts/ideas of a probable solution.
Thanks in advance,
anuptosh
