Hi,

I wasn't sure where to ask this, and hopefully someone can help.

I have just upgraded from vs2003 to vs2005. I developed a remote website on a 2003 server. When working on vs2003 i could access the site with no problems but now with vs2005 i get this error:

Server Error : Error 2 opening Registry key "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\Ports\Port 80"

I have checked the registry permissions and they look fine but there is no port 80 entry. Any suggestions?

Hopefully thanks in advance.

Thanks Mark,

I had already tried this, but just to make sure. I went through it again. The permission seem to be fine. Is there a seperate user for visual studio that i need to give permissions to?

cheers

Paul

ASP.NET accounts by default run under the ASPNET or NETWORK SERVICE user but it depends on whether you have done any impersonation or not.

Hmmm, When I first installed it, it kept asking for a user name and password and it didn't matter what i entered. To test whether it was just having problems with my username, i added my user to the iis on the server. After that it didn't ask anymore except i kept getting this error.

cheers

Paul
