So I've come here seeking help with MS Publisher. I have created my website in Publisher, and have 1 question, and 1 problem.

I'll start with the problem:
I am trying to create a new navigation bar. I go to Insert>Navigation Bar>New, and I set up a new nav bar. However, when I finish, instead of creating a NEW bar, it destroys my main nav bar. I've made sure that I don't have the main nav bar selected, and done everything else I could think of. I even saved the file, closed Publisher, and tried to reopen and try again... same problem! Can anyone help me? Is this a bug? Is there a way to fix it?

And here's my question:
I would like my website to be centered on a user's screen, but can't find the option to do that. Is there a way to do this through my Master Page? If not, is there a way to directly change the HTML to make the page centered? I've tried plugging in HTML tags into various places, but it hasn't worked. Help!

Thank you,
Sam

P.S.
I don't want anyone to think that I'm trying to advertise, so I haven't included the URL to my website. If it will help, I can provide the URL.

I have solved the centering problem. Now I just have that nav bar problem.

The remaining problem is within MS Publisher, it has nothing to do with viewing my site in a browser. When I try to create a new nav bar, it replaces the old one, even though I am specifically telling the program to create a new one.

Thanks for the reply though.

So this seems like a useless forum.

Thanks...

The problem lies with the fact that you are trying to use a desktop publishing program as a web design tool. Yes, it can be done but it's not the best tool for the job. Post your question over in the microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign newsgroup. There is a guy (DavidF) over there who is quite knowledgeable on that aspect of the program.

Hi,
how you solved the problem with page centering? I use Publisher 2007 and have the same problem.

thanks

Publisher can be used to create simple (static) websites which are left-justified by design. If you need a site with self centering, etc. you really should be using a proper web design program, such as Expression Web. However, if you still insist on using a desktop publishing program, visit: "Understanding background padding in a Publisher web (aka white space)":

TulloSK, here's how you can center the page.

Use Publisher to publish your site to the web. You should have a file called index.htm and a folder called index_files.

First, open index.htm in notepad so that you can view the HTML, CTRL+F and search for:
Code:
</head>
replace it with the following:
Code:
</head><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2" width="760"align="center"><tr><td>
Now open the index_files folder and do the same thing to EVERY file in there that ends with .htm. Unfortunately, you will have to repeat this every time you change your website.

This worked for me, check it out:
