Hi guys,
I need a little advice on site "self-defence". There is a certain site which has linked to my site in a very insulting way. they have done this in retaliation to something I wrote in a weblog. They actually linked to an old site of mine a few years ago. they are a particularly nasty group of people and I know they have already checked with "Whois" who I am (my personal details are recorded with my registrar of course).

My questions is how do I react? Do I just let it die, say nothing? Is there anyone I can report this too? Should I prepare for any kind of an attack on my site?
Can a registrar "hide" your personal details or can I give false information?

It's a little troubling so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! :-(

Perhaps i am to stupid, but i do not see the Problem.

Why don't you cut this link on your site?

About the legal Situation: this changes from country to country.

Some Domain providers are handling those Informations very strict other are putting it to websites in the Internet.

What do you mean "linked"? Did they just create a link to your site on their own site? Well then there's nothing you can do about that at all. You cannot give false whois info...don't do it not a good idea.

Prepare for an attack? Better have a firewall, cause I'm sure you're getting attacked and you don't even know it.

SgtB,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, basically they just created a link to my site, with a nasty little paragraph to go with it. They also checked Whois and know where I live!
I have since changed my whois info and am requesting that my registrar hide my information in future.
Maybe it'll blow over!??

Thanks for your reply.

They sound like bullies to me. Just ignore them and they will go away. Do be proactive in monitoring and preventing hacking attempts. And I would think it would blow over.

I know GoDaddy has a locking feature so only you can change the info you should look in to that. Mike Wills
