Hi,

Can anyone suggest a good website backup software, where I download the site only once and then it downloads only the files which have been changed since the last download.

Thanks

Mario

I doubt that's the case. I think that maybe you haven't explained what it is you really want to do. What you're asking doesn't really make any sense - it sounds like you want to back up the files that you've placed on your server. The only files that could possibly change on the server would be data files. All other web pages will not change. So, what special type of software would you need to download your data files?

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

Hi,

I was thinking of taking a backup of the online version of the website...independentaly of the website working files I have on my hardisk used to upload changes.

I mean once in a while I take a fresh backup of the online version and let's say, every month, I download the files which have been added/changed or even deleted.

My problem is that the source files used to upload are not 100% similar to those online.

Have you thought about using an online source control system... maybe a CVS based one? I haven't checked them out myself, but SourceForge is one that many people talk about.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Hi mate,

What is the total size of your site?

If it isn't too big, then contact your host and ask them if they offer any remote backup services.

We offer this as an added extra to our customers and all they need on their machine is an FTP server. Every day (or other time on arrangement) the files are zipped and transferred over to the customers FTP server. Your host may offer a similar service.

The only thing about this though is that normally all files are copied, not just the ones that have changed.

Hope this helps

Wullie

The size is over 200mb's.

I don't think the service of my provider sending me the whole site is what I need as I can download the website myself.

That's why I prefferred incremental backups so that I just download a few Kb's everyday.

I'll check what SourceForge are.

Thanks
