website found, waiting for reply

Can someone help?

xp pc cannot open any web page. can ping google ok. using motorola 4 port dsl modem.
no joy in safe mode with networking.
tried vista laptop and same result.
CRITICAL FACT: vista laptop displays web fine in another office.
using ie7 and ie8 on pc and laptop.
tried zyxel router and same result.
both pc and laptop get ip via dhcp.
router displays wan ip and dns settings from isp.
