Hi there

I have a website and wish to allow users to visit my site without the need to type the' www' as is the case with 99% of websites.

I have tried adding a new host header in our DNS administration in Forward Lookup Zones using no name (uses 'same as parent folder') - so it should be the same as mydomain.com, without anything preceding it, pointing to the domain's IP address. I have also added "mydomain.com" under a new host header name in IIS in Advanced Multiple website configuration but it still comes up with a "Page under construction" error when I test it all.

Is there not a set way to enable this? Any documentation on the web anywhere? I have only one IP address and do not want to use another IP address and simply redirect to as this would jeapardise search engine rankings as they don't tend to like this.

Thank you very much for any help.

If a ping or tracert to yourdomain.com (without www) resolves correctly, then it's simply a configuration issue with your IIS web server & you'd be better off asking in forum41

Usually you would want to add an alias to the existing configuration of the virtual host, so that the same virtual host is assumed when you type and mydomain.com. This should be available for configuring somewhere in the IIS.

Smah is correct if you can ping, tracrt or nslookup mydomain.com and you resolve correctly the problem is in your IIS server. If you do not resolve correctly try adding an additional A record to mydomain.com like the following:

@ IN A <IP Address>
