Hi there,

I have designed the basis of a webpage for my client, and i stuck between these two

They are both the same, but one made for a higher resolution than the other.

Could everyone please vote on what would be most suitable.

Go with number 1, number 2's almost unreadable at 1024. You also need to increase the contrast between the text and the background on the top title bar ("About Us Contact Us ... etc.&quot.

what's important is how your web site adapts to different screen resolutions ('liquid design').

in this day and age, you can't say that 'you must have a 1024x768 screen to view this web site'. What about people using PDAs? Mobile phones? the average joe using a 14" monitor?

fixing the resolution to a fixed width will limit your options; make sure the code is adaptable to all browser formats.

This includes text-only browsers: structural HTML (using <h1> <h2> <p> to create a logical document structure) will do wonders for usability.

This is a web design forum, so generally we're all quite happy to review your code as well as the jpeg...Don't worry about exposing proprietary code to the world - I've yet to come across proprietary front end code that5 hasn't already been seen a thousand times!

See the way i have done this, is embedded it into a table, so no matter what res size or screen size the image will be the same distance from the top and bottom.

Do think because its a bit larger that it would be important to hug the top of the page?

I'm a bit late voting for #1, love the design though. Just one tiny question... re spelling of chauffeur ... maybe it is spelt differently in different countries? Hope you don't mind me asking.

Use #1...hardly anyone browses with a resolution of under 800x600...not enough to design for..except for the PDA's..I don't know how they work. But if you're designing for people to access the site through a computer, the second one, even if it were readable is just overkill. Better to use the one that's more convenient to more users. And I also noticed too much white space...

On temp3 the blue with row with 'call phoenix now' seems to take up too much room unless you have something else to put in there
