I have SharePoint Services 3.0 setup using SSL. Internally if I go to " everything works great, I log in and it forwards me to "
The problem is when I access the server from the outside (my house lets say) I go to " and I get the banner asking for my username and password (so far so good) but after that it doesn't forward me to " it stays at "
If I go to " from the outside it works perfectly.

Does any have any ideas to get this to work without using the default.aspx on the end of the website?

Set in IIS to load the default aspx first. Change the order of the page to load for the site. Make sure you restart IIS once you do that.

Try deleting all the other file names and just use Default.aspx. I did that and it fixed it for me.

Go to Central Administration
Operations
Alternate Access Mappings
Edit Public URL
Select your sharepoint site
Input an internet address

Beowulf005,

I redownloaded the latest version of v3 and it worked great. Previous versions kept having SQL Server issues.

I have an SBS server and the page will not display. Followed every direction but still cannot get it working. On my testing box I have it working perfectly but its not connected to the internet.

Did you check to make sure your Sharepoint Services are all up and running. Also depending on how you setup the SQL server it could create problems. I had one hell of a time doing it so I went with whatever the defaults were when setting up the access rights of the accounts accessing the database. I didn't use Network Services I think, but I saw exactly the samething you are seeing though when used the installation that was released awhile ago.

The only service that isn't running is SQLAgent$SHAREPOINT. When I try to start it I get
Code:
The SQLAgent$SHAREPOINT service on local computer stated and then stopped. Some services stopautomatically if they have no work to do, for example, the performace logs and alerts service.

I created a Service Account for Sharepoint Search, Sharepoint Timer and SQL Server. Each have admin rights to the local computer.
Maybe this will help.

BobSchleicher

How did you creat that account. Please

I have and OU in name Service Accounts in AD.
In that OU I have all of my Service Accounts that I use.
The accounts are name something that makes sense and I give that account an extremely complicated password. An example:
username: SASharePointSearch
password: !2op()kdi@#$aeipcPLW737@@
I make the password very complicated because it needs admin rights to the computer it is being used on.

In a nut shell, create a new user and add that user to the admin group on the server it is being used on then change the user on the service.

I have figured it out just as you posted rebooted server and seeing if I can get it to work

I spent almost a month trying to troubleshoot it and just ended up reinstalling. My sanity was in question at that point so I just reinstalled everything including the OS and I'm glad I did.
