Websharing...How does it work?

Hello,
I am interested in learning more about sharepoint. I have an SBS 2003 Standard server, fully patched and it's being used as a test server, for now. I'm curious. I have allowed websharing on a folder but I do not see the folder or it's contents listed on the website. What more would I need to do in order to access the folder information through our intranet? Alternatively I suppose I could post each file within the folder, but that seems counter productive...

To see documents and such in sharepoint you'd have to upload them all into the sharepoint database.
