If I load the file (c:\......\kp\test.htm - which contains the <object> code to call out the .swf) the flash file works correctly (it sends/receives data to a web service.

However, if I load test.htm as I see the flash file and the menus, text fields etc "work" but nothing is sent to or received from the web service.

Any one have any ideas?

The "web service" must be located on the "localhost" in order for it to receive data from your SWF file. I'm assuming that the script that your SWF calls is on a commercial web hosting server. If so, the easiest way to test is to connect to the internet, then open your browser and run your SWF. If you've correctly placed the getURL statement, it will send data to your script on your web site.

On the otherhand, if your script resides on your local machine, then the getURL statement must point to where it exists on your machine - something like "
There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
