Webpart security

Hi. I'm testing out Sharpoint's features and I'm having trouble with webparts. Maybe someone here can help. I've written a few webparts that are working fine, but my issue is security. If I want only certain users to be able to see/use a webpart, how do I do this? Is it even possible to do? Any insight on this would be great. Thanks!
