Hi there,
We have Web Marshal installed on a “Server 2003 Standard Edition” server which is used to bolt down security on over 100 users. I have set up a software download security function which allows ALL users to download from all windows and Microsoft sites, as specified below:
• • • •
Even though this ‘backdoor’ to windows updates has been implemented, the users still get a failed report when they try to download from here. I have noticed though that if you select a large number of downloads that include non-windows security, these non-windows security updates seem to download and install without a problem. I have tried to install these under the network administrator account, but these other updates still will not install.
I am considering installing SUS on the server to get round this problem, but a fix would be a lot better as we are a reseller and tech support to many customers and may not be able to implement the SUS software for a month.
If you can help or suggest a better area to post this thread, please help!
