Webmail stops working

Periodically the webmail stops working and users can't login, while users with lotus notes client have no trouble at all. The only work aorund i have found is to shut down domino and restart it. I'm sure there a better way to resolve this problem when the webmail stops working, I just need someone to tell me.
This is Domino version 5.

sorry for refering as Webmail, the problem is with users using iNotes.
