Hi

we are currently running OWA from exchange/windows 2003

we have created a trusted domain with our germany company and i was wondering is they would be able to use our OWA but log onto their e-mail accounts

they do have a 2003 exchange on their domain but i was wondering if it was possible as it would save me setting it up again and getting a internet name sorted out

Cheers

(sorry for the double post on the MS win 2003 forum section i do not know how to remove it)

Yes, that should work fine though Outlook Anywhere would be far better.

is there an extra set up that needs to be addded to make it possible for them to reach their mail server?

i tried using credentials i have on their exchange server on the webmail but it did not go through

any ideas cheers

The trust will not give them DNS or WINS lookups to your network unless you have configured them.

Can they not use Outlook Anywhere like your local users?

outlook anywhere is a exchange 2007 feature isn't it?

With the release of Exchange 2007 they renamed Exchange 2003's RPC over HTTP/S (always a clumsy name to be honest) as Outlook Anywhere. From a client's perspective (i.e. Outlook 2003/7) there's little difference.

ahh ok i will look into this and see the dns and wins lookup is working between the domain....so i will test this and see

the main reason was so they can use OMA across to their exchange for there HTC phones and now nokia's have 'mail for exchange' everyone is pushing for it

so i am not sure for oma aswell i have tried but not having much luck

OMA from HTC phones would work over Internet surely so domain trust is irrelevant?

Though why you aren't pushing Exchange mail to the phones if they are mobile 6 devices, I'm not sure.

problem being the other domain not have OWA set up.....i cannot get their account from that domain to log in

on my domain it is all fine and working with pushmail i need some kind of link on the exchange's so i can share the accounts

Either treat them as two distinct companies and create contacts in each one for the other and use an Exchange to Exchange connector or create accounts in your Exchange for them and do away with their Exchange server.

Only other option is to push their Exchange into your org and retain the separate servers but to do that you need to do a domain migration.
