Hello!
Here is my latest endeavor at my office. We need to share a folder full of files to a few outside users. I would just make them accessible via ftp, but the files need to be "locked" so local users do not overwrite them. Is WebDAV a possibility?
I have an XP box, p4 with 2gb ram. Is it possible to:
1. Use this box as is, with XP
2. Setup IIS/Webdav
3. Access the required files via LAN, since the file server has RAID 5, and the XP box is an old workstation.
4. Authenticate the WebDAV users via the current W2k Domain.
5. have everything secure via SSL.
6. Am I better off with a linux box instead?
7. Am I better off with a VPN instead?
Oh yeah, and then there is the money thing. Funds are very limited so high priced solutions are out. Thank You!
