are you using this vanilla?
i know this was reported as an issue and is scheduled to be addressed in sp1.
there is a field test that should speed this up or sp1 is in beta pending on where you are installing and how much free way you have
the field test are reliable enough
i am assuming that you are running this on a proper web server of course and not some iis crap
