Trying to find an answer to simple question with no luck.

Does GW 6.5 WebAccess update the user database in the same way that the GW6.5 client does the first time the users login after an upgrade?

In more detail... A GW 5.5 client can continue to access a GW 6.5 Post office until the user has updated their client to GW6.5 and logged in. At this point, the user database is upgraded for that user and from then on, they can only access the Post Office with the GW6.5 client.

But suppose the users only use WebAccess. Will the conversion still take place? or do they need to login with a GW6.5 client first?

I don't have a lab readily available to test, so I'm hoping someone has been through this same scenario.

Thanks.

never tried it
and like you dont have this kind of lab

gut feeling is you would have to open the account with a fat bhoy client first

As long as the Post Office is upgraded to 6.5, you should have not problem using Webaccess 6.5 to access user message database without GW client 6.5 update.

I broke down and did some testing and mleung is correct. You can immediately use Webaccess with no problems, and if you do use Webaccess, it doesn't effect the ability to continue to use the GW5.5 client.
