web.xml configuration

I have Tomcat 4 installed the example servlets are compiling when I visit "

http://localhost:8080/"

and then the examples.

When I open my own JSPs, they display in the browser but aren't compiling.

I think the problem has to do with my web.xml file (or lack there of.)

This is not a web.xml problem, but a syntax error on your coding.

Not true. They compile properly when brought up in "

http://localhost:8080/project/name.jsp"

Well if you access a resource in /contextRoot you should really access using the URL

http://localhost:8080/project/name.jsp,

so I don;t see the problem. Perhaps if you posted your errors, it would make more sense.
