I putting together a Web Solution but I can't descide which type of license I require. A single Processor License or Standard 5 CAL Server License.

The plan
A Web Server will host an Internet site. When customers hit the web server database actions (Requests & Updates) will be made to secure SQL Server. Only a handful of users will be using the service. I guess the connection will be made via Microsoft's ISA, I am thinking the web server will act as a single user accessing the SQL Database, therefore it will just require a Standard 5 CAL Server license.

Am I correct in this assumption ?

Thanks in advanced.

For a decent explanation, see

The bottom line is, it's "safer" (from a legal standpoint) to purchase the per-processor license when you allow use from a Web connection. The initial layout is stiffer ($3999 vs $1489 for a 5-CAL license), but the fact is that once your Web server accepts more that 5 users, you've blown the CAL license. The important distinction here is that it's not the single connection between the Web server (or middle-tier server) and SQL that counts; it's the number of potential end users on the other end of your HTTP connections.

Go with the per-processor license, and the license-audit goons won't come knocking at your door. Well, they may, but you'll be covered.

Good luck,
PH
