I am running windows 2000 server and I am having some trouble applying security to a web site. I created a global user group with the users I want to have access. Via the security wizard, I eliminated the anonymous access. When I attempt to hit the site it prompts me for verification info. but I can only gain access with the administrator's account. How do I tie the user group to the web site? Can anyone provide a step by step process for applying security to a web page?

I wanted to respond to my own problem now that I have the solution.

The reason the user group could not gain access was because of the Domain Controller Sercurity Policy. The user group did not have rights to Access the Computer from the net or the right to Logon Locally.

I performed the following steps to solve the problem.

Start
Programs
Administration Tools
Domain Controller Security Policy
(select the domain server)
Security Settings
Local Policy
User Rights Assignments

Double click Access Computer From the Net
Add user group or user
Close

Double click Logon Locally
Add user group or user
Close

Close out Domain Security Window

Changes will take about five minutes to be enforces unless you perform the following.

At a command prompt type the following: secedit /refreshpolicy machine_policy /enforce

close command prompt window and try to access site.
