Hello,

I'm really concerned about some emails that I have been getting as of late. The contents of these emails are:

I don't recall ever signing up for any adult Web Site. I certainly don't recall ever giving such a Web Site my Credit Card Information. This email seems to indicate that they did a Credit Card Validation, and they were some how able to obtain my email address to send me this advertisement. How is this possible? Would it be possible for them to obtain this information by some technical means without my knowledge, like taking information off my PC without me actually signing up and requesting these ads, or providing them with my Credit Card Details or email address? Notice that this ad doesn't address me by name, but rather refers to the IP Address. I'm an honest person and I'm worried sick that I've done something wrong. Am I in trouble? Please advise me on what to do next...

Howdy:

Nothing but SPAM and meant to get you to reply so they can verify your email address is valid. Then watch out !!

Just dump it !!

Some services that you may have signed up for may have pages and pages of selectable options. It is so easy to miss default options that you really don't want. Such encounters leave you unable to associate the cause of your spam.

There are many sites in the internet that are known to be bad news. A tool such as SpyBlocker has over 10K of URLs in a hosts file - that tool will not allow you access to those sites by default (user changeable). It would be good to know that access to a particularly site is highly not recommended under most circumstances.

I have found a synergy that exists and peace of mind for denial of access to sites that are not recommended under most circumstances. If you access those sites, you are most certainly going to increase the incidence of unwelcome traffic. They end up sending you ads, cookies, spyware, and six (6) other unwelcomed and possibly destablizing intrusions. Better not to go there in the first place.
