I want to setup a web server to host site and am trying to decide between Solaris 10 Express using their AMP software
or FreeBSD 7.0. I may or may not use jails/containers but that option is still a possibility. There are advantages and
disadvantages of both operating systems. Once setup I will just maintain but don't want to spend a lot of time off-hours
with maintenance.

Initially it will be Apache and later I may use Tomcat and MySQL.

I am comfortable with both operating systems, but want real advice about advantages/disadvantatges
other have ran into with hard facts not subjective opinions.

Thanks!

I have not used solaris, but I did want to mention one thing.

With FreeBSd, you can install apache and etc. as a package, port, or with source.I don't know if Solaris can install from anything but source.

of course I think that installing from source is usually the best thing to do, especially if it's an important application like a webserver.
