Hello All,<br><br>Can you please suggest the Hardware requirements (Server configuaration) which will be needed by a web hosting company.<br>The company plans to host around 25 different sites.<br>And what Operating System will be Good?<br>Any Information will be greatly appreciated.<br><br>Prasad<br>

What operating systems are you familiar with?  Do you know anything about Unix, Linux, or BSD (all are very similar in nature)?  I would definitely suggest those myself.  For 25 sites, I would use Linux to cluster a multitude of cheap computers so that they run as one.  TurboLinux (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> has very good software for doing this.  Worried about tech support due to the nature of Linux?  Don't, because you found this place, plus you can go to places like LinuxNewbie (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> and The Linux Documentation project (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> to get some literature on it so that you can learn yourself.  Need immediate help?  Many of the large companies like Red Hat, Caldera, and Corel provide phone support and LinPeople (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> provide support in IRC.  I wouldn't spend too much on hardware since you can get a lot of cheap ones and cluster them.  Some multi-processor systems would be good.  I wouldn't suggest anything less than AMD chips.  They're cheap and usually faster than Intel.  You could also use Macintosh hardware since the G3's and G4's are quite a bit faster than x86 chips (G3's and G4's are 64 bits while x86 is only 32 bits).  With Macintosh hardware, you can still use Linux, but you get that extra speed.  I myself am planning on getting Mac hardware for my next Linux system.
