Hi all.
Just taking my first steps into .NET using visual web developer express and have created a simple logon page which runs on our server ok and asks for a username/pwd.
I have specified a user and password using the built in developer wizard and it all works superbly on my pc - but on the server i get an "incorrect password - try again" message even though the password is right.
Can anyone suggest what i might try in order to get the server end to accept the password?
Thanks and Regards
Ian

I am not sure I understand how you are defining a username and password. Please post your markup and codebehind and I will try to help.

Are you pointing to the correct DB in your membership profile once you moved the project?

Hi again - thanks for trying to help.
Here's my web.config code...
<?xml version="1.0"?>

the Website->Asp.Net Configuration option in Visual Studio.

<configuration xmlns=" <appSettings/>
<connectionStrings>
<add name="Ian_TestConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=ianjvc\sqlexpress;Initial Catalog=Ian_Test;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=sa;Password=1234"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>

</configuration>

And here's my form code...

<%@ Page Language="VB" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "
<script runat="server">

</script>

<html xmlns=" >
<head runat="server">
<title>Untitled Page</title>
</head>
<body>
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<div>
<asp:LoginView ID=LoginView1 runat="server">
<LoggedInTemplate>
Welcome &nbsp;<asp:LoginName ID="LoginName1" runat="server" Style="position: relative" />
.
<br />
<asp:HyperLink ID="HyperLink1" runat="server" NavigateUrl="~/Default.aspx" Style="position: relative">Click here to get the despatch report</asp:HyperLink>
</LoggedInTemplate>
<AnonymousTemplate>
You are not logged in
</AnonymousTemplate>
</asp:LoginView>
<br />
&nbsp;</div>
<asp:LoginStatus ID="LoginStatus1" runat="server" LoginText="Click me to login!"
LogoutText="Click here to Logout." Style="position: relative" />
</form>
</body>
</html>
Hope this helps you find my problem..!
Regards Ian

Most likely it is an issue with your connection string. Is "ianjvc\sqlexpress" available to the network or is it local to your machine?
