We are migrating users off of Modular Messaging (MM) on to Microsoft UM. As we do this (using Exchange back-end BTW), the AD Accounts automatically remove the license for MM so I was expecting to see the license file decrease more than it is but in the last 3 weeks, I have only seen it go down by 2 and we have moved about 100 or so (granted, we had some new hires during that time but I still expected to see more than just 2 down). So my question is, does the WEBLM file update immediately for the number of licenses used or should some type of update be done?

The AD does not remove squat from the MM licensing unless you disable the account in AD and then remove it. And it does update within 2 or 3 minutes max.

What about Event Viewer on the MAS - event ID 1531? It shows nightly stats around midnight - would the MM enabled number of subscribers be accurate or is that number what it thinks is active in AD?

It should but are you saying that that number is lower than the one showing in WebLM ?

If so you have other issues

No - it is not lower...it is the same. I just thought it odd that the MAS Event Viewer had the same number as WEBLM...but I guess it makes sense based on what you are saying. Thanks.

Back to this once more...I am not sure if I was clear when I said we migrate users, AD removes the account - if you look at a user in AD after they have been migrated, the account is disabled - so wouldn't the license count update? It appears no different than if I removed the check mark to enable/disable.

You must disable the account (before you do anything else) to remove the mm info from the FEDB and the AD otherwise it thinks it is still active.

Ok - so that's not going to happen given the amount of conversions we have to do each night...long story. Sounds like I could do a FEDB rebuild and possibly get it updated?

Well It might but I've never tried it like that.

If you are moving away from it why do you need it to show the right count ?

Just to let me know if anything is still sitting out there that we overlooked - unless there is some other way to find it in AD (so far no one is coming up with a way to search or maybe they don't have time to look).

FEDB rebuilt did not do the trick - was worth a shot.
