business objects vs web intelligence.

Advantages and disadvantages of web intelligence vs Business Objects Client. Does Webintelligence permit the same options that Business Objects??, drill, sort, slice and dice, etc.???

Thanks!!

V2.7.x of WebI does have alot of the same functionality as BO. It differs in 3 or 4 ways.

1) BO can build complex calculations
2) BO can have multi-block reports
3) BO can have multi-tab reports
4) BO can have multi-query reports

In the newly announced v6, WebI will also have all but the multi-query option.

You also need to remember that with WebI, you do all processing server-side. If the servers are sized correctly, you can minimise on network traffic and prevent daft users from returning millions of rows across your network.

That said, full client has more functionality and is a nicer front-end for users that write reports on a daily basis.

Most deployments will be a mixture.... The main weakness I have seen is the incompatibility of reports between full client and WebI. i.e. you can't create a WebI report using FC and vice-versa. You can however view BO reports in WebI (but not manipulate). I don't know if this will change in a future release ....?

Hope this helps
