I have profesional verison of XP, I am told that i can setup a web on my PC and have it accessed - right now i pay hosting fees, and would like to get rid of the charges.

I am using broadband = roadrunner.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

It is possible, but not recommended. If you do not know what you are doing, you could be opening up your entire PC to the world. Plus it could be against Road Runner's terms for webhosting.

You can find webhosting as cheap as a dollar or $3.95 from Godaddy. Pay the few dollars a month - that way it does not mess with your computer or your bandwidth.

Hosting is brilliant and basically very simple
Install IIS on your machine
Point port 80 to your machine (TCP Port)
You will not be able to see the page yourself get someone else too look
They will need to type in your ip to see it
use dynalias.com to register one that makes it so people can type words
Try faq253-3718
or
Same thing different places the second is slightly different though
Anyway i stuck with IIS and it works fine
Just make sure you have your firewall enabled and you are fine
spano.co.uk
spanoweb.com
radiostow.co.uk (new soon)
are all running off the same computer at my home

The way web design should be
