Hi,

I am wanting information on the different ways in which to web front end an Oracle DB. We have plenty of PL/SQL and Forms experience in a Client Server architecture but are wanting to write an application with a web front end. Apart from web enabling forms, which we have ruled out what options are available to us.

We have been looking at possibly using JSP but are not sure whether the project will take the learning curve this will incur. I seem to remember there being a PL/SQL cartridge for generating HTML.

Any help at all greatly appreciated.

Roy

Hi Roy,

sorry for the late answer.

Actually if you license the Oracle Internet Application Server, then you will be able to take your FORMS and REPORTS applications 1:1 to the forms/reports runtime in the Application Server and this will give you the desired web-pages with the same look and feel like Client/Server.

If you intend to switch to PSP (also called Web-PL/SQL) it is of course also included in iAS. You will not have to do anything else than to use your PL/SQL inside of html. The Application Server then will rebuild this PL/SQL-code in HTML-forms with the appropriate functionality.

You should look for the iAS documentation, it will tell you everything you need to know.
