Greetings...

I've been using GoLive for my web stuff lately. I'm not a big designer, but
hope to become one someday. Anyway, any thoughts on Flash...Whats the
difference between Flash MX and 5.0? Is this where its at? If so, I'm a big
user of training tapes. Recomend any particular ones.
Thanks to all..

MX = Flash 6. Marketting--go figure.

Flash is a great tool and is quickly becoming a standard. Like everything else though, it takes a good designer to use it effectively.

As far as tapes go, I can't really point you in any sound direction, but I will say the people over at the flash boards here are excellent, skilled and always willing to help. They'll get you up to speed in no time.

Hi,
I don't know that I would say it is becoming a standard, but as more and more folks get high speed internet access, it will definitely become more prominent.
As was said, along with the flash board here, check out Lots of tutorials and flash stuff you can download.
If load time is a big consideration to your site, then you will have to take that into consideration when using flash.
If load time isn't a concern, then go all out.
Flash can be an awesome thing on a site, but it can also be a detriment. Depends on the site and the visitors you are targeting.
Have fun.

Thanks guys!
I wanted to get an UNbiased response before I check out the Flash board.

Thanks again!!!

That's why I said it takes a skilled person to use it. I always take care to consider people with dial up and if coded effeciently, flash takes no more time to load than HTML with graphics.

It all depends on the designer.

Flash is also very good for putting small animations on html pages to direct visitors attention to specific areas or promotions etc. The download time on these are usually very fast.

I guess a problem with this could be if the visitor doesn't have the flash player plugin installed and you end up with blank holders all over your site but then it should prompt you for download in this case.

See you in the flash forum.
