Hi all,
I have a very weird problem.
I have the Crystal Enterprise and all the products therein. I have been trying to get to the CMC, but it always gives me "COMMUNICATION ERROR: Communication with the configured web component services failed because they are disabled or not currently running."
Now, the CMC could be launched successfully, until sometime back. I have checked the Web Component Server, the IIS, and also the Services. All of them seem to have started.
Can anyone please help ?

I've expierenced this same problem but only on a NT 4.0 Server System with an NTFS file system. I believe the problem is that the account that the CE Services is attempting to use does not have sufficent access priveleges to start and use the services properly. I've also tried installing CE on a NT Server system with the exact software setup/configuration but with FAT partitions instead and it ran flawlessly on the first install..but I do not reccommend setting up a public server using FAT partitions. I know squat about NT System Adminstration so I'm kind of stuck here myself and google hasn't been much help.

Sorry I'm not much help, but atleast I think this is a point in the right direction..

Go to "Crystal Configuration Manager", click on "Enable/Disable Servers", to enable all the servers, including WCS(Web Component Sever), see if this helps.

Do you have Report Application Server installed? If WCS goes down (or you take it down/restart it) while RAS is running, you lose the ability to control the WCS. If you need to bring down/restart the WCS at any point, bring down the RAS first. If the WCS crashes while RAS is up, you will probably need to restart the box the WCS is on to regain control. I hope that helps.
