Does anyone have any numbers or a study on whether a Web Application takes longer to develop than a Desktop application, and by how much?

That's an interesting question. Unfortunately I don't have hard numbers for you. Desktop apps are definitely more difficult as they are not as easily updated. On the converse of that is the fact that online apps always have browser compatibility issues and the like!

I managed for a while and that was a desktop application. It was easy in many respects, but at deployment time it was always a nail biter.

I currently manage and it is a web application. We deploy whenever we want and therefore little issues are not as big of a deal.

When it comes to dev time, I would say that they are almost the same! It depends on what type of deployments you want to have.

Thanks,
