web based mail notifications - special settings?

Are there any settings that need to be changed or any special features that need to be running on the domino server for mailing features to work from the web. I have set up notifications on a form and it works fine within Notes but produces nothing from the web browser.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received as I am new to Notes/Domino and I'm struggling at the moment.
