Hi there,

Where I work there are public internet computers. We had a request from someone today wanting to know if they could upload their web page as their own internet connection at home was down. We don't have FTP software installed at the moment. But, i am wondering, is it possible to upload using a web based FTP program? I did a check Google search and came up with a site called HostNed.com which appears to offer that.

For the future, are there any problems having FTP software installed on public computers? I can't think of any myself.

BTW, this is a public library environment, PCs locked down with Deep Freeze and various policies. Users bring their own storage devices.

Thanks in advance,

M

ftp.exe is not part of the current standard operating environment. I'm hoping there is something "out there" that we can direct users towards.

Hi

To manage an FTP account the user must pass the authentication. If the web based FTP manager is running on another server, the user must give he's username and password to a third party software, which can as easily as possible log those sensitive information for later abuse.

I think even if is a way to do it, avoid it. If you want security, you can not escape from installing an FTP client.

Feherke.
