Web Based Calendar

Hi,
We're looking to implement a web based calendar, preferabbly freeware/open source for our engineers to post to on a daily basis or as needed for there whereabouts in the metro area, i.e. if they're on leave or not. Something that comes with its own SQL engine would be good and requires user authentication to access the calendar and post to or view it.

We're considering the UW Calendar

project but wanted to see what other options there are out there that you're using
