We have a customer who was using TAPI to make outgoing calls from Outlook fine on Windows 2000 Pro, but since getting a new machine with Windows XP Pro a problem has occurred.

When you open a contact, choose the new call option, then click dialling options you get an error message and your 2 options are either H323 or "ipconfig" (note no IP Office TAPI).

If I check in control panel, phone and modem options, the IP Office TAPI is there and configured correctly.

Has anybody else had this problem with TAPI?

Any suggestions?

I too have had this problem with XP, It seems to be able to be resolved as follows

1, For the duration of the install make the clients machine member of domain admins on the domain controller, log the machine on and off for security right to take affect. Try and stay clear of the run as feature as most acaya apps do not like it. Once logged back on run the IPO user cd client setup and install Phonemanager and TAPI driver. Once this has finshed rebooted the PC, and check the driver appears unter Modems Etc. then check Phone Dialer c:\program files\windows nt\dialer.exe.. If you can dial from phone dialer then open outlook and make sure the tapi driver is there. If it is, strip the rights back to just domainusers and reboot the machine, the driver should be there still

You may also need to Remove the IPO Tapi driver from Control Panel/Phone and Modem options and then Add it back. This usually resolves the problem.
