We are considering going to Netback

We are considering going to Netbackup on our new five host Dell FC600 SAN with a six drive Dell 136T LTO200/400 library (which I believe is actually a rebranded Scalar 1000). Does anybody have similar hardware? We would like to be able to back up Snapclones to tape on a differential basis. Any gotchas involved?

As a whole, are people satisfied with Netbackup? Any other products you wish you had gone to?

We used Backup Exec for a while, and it seemed pretty good, with the exception that we were unable to get the backup jobs to label the media as they ran. Does that work on the Netbackup version? I am looking at Commvault, too, but their support has been pretty weak in the past. Arcserve would be an option, but only if a miracle has occurred and their products work and their support does too.

We dont have anything like similar hardware, but we recently switched from Arcserve to Netbackup and we hate Netbackup... we didnt care much for Arcserve, but Netbackup has been a real pain and I would not recommend it. We're looking for something to replace it right now.

I personally love NetBackup for an Enterprise solution. For mid-tiered solutions I would recommend using BakBone NetVault.

We have been using NetBackup for over 3 years (came from ArcServe) and have been satisfied with the product. The one thing that I would recommend is that if you do go with NetBackup have Veritas come in and assist in getting it installed, also for the people that are going to be supporting it send them to training.

I love NetBackup DataCentre but ... If you are just starting out - Get traiing. Once you know the product - Very powerful but to get to that point you may encounter a lot of frustration.
