I've got a problem that probably won't mean anything to you unless you've experianced the same thing. I'm running Windows 2000 ADV Server on a Western Digital 160gb drive model - WDC WD1600JB-00DUA0 and after a few weeks the system will crash and utterly destroy the primary partition. I've had it happen on two completely different motherboards about 4 times. Everything works fine, and then out of nowhere the system reboots and the partition has vanished, that or it locks up and gives me file corrupt errors anytime anything on the primary partition on the drive is accessed, and then when I reboot the partition is gone. When I run diagnostics on the drive it comes back perfectly fine everytime.... SMART status on the drive is good as I have been monitoring it since the first crash. Any suggestions as to what is going on here?

It's split into 2 partitions. Both primary. The first one is 20gb and holds the OS, and is set to bootable. The second is the rest of the disk. It always remained intact after the crashes.

There is a 90 second test and an extended test. Are you running the extended test? (should take almost an hour)
